Windows Keyboard Shortcuts & Productivity

Practical Windows shortcuts that reduce clicks, manage windows efficiently, and speed up everyday work without installing any software.

Windows keeps a history of what you copy.

Press: Windows + V

You can paste text, links, screenshots or file paths copied earlier.
Works across applications.

Enable once → stays enabled.
No app. No setup.

(To disable later: Settings → System → Clipboard → turn OFF Clipboard history)

Windows allows multiple desktops — not just multiple tabs.

Press: Windows + Tab → New Desktop

Why this helps:
• Separate work contexts (portals, Excel, mail)
• Fewer Alt+Tab mistakes
• Cleaner screen during meetings or screen-share
(sensitive files stay out of view)
• Your windows stay exactly where you left them

Switch desktops using:
Ctrl + Windows + ← / →

Need to instantly hide all windows?

Press: Windows + D

Press again → all windows return.

Useful when:
• Screen gets cluttered
• Someone walks in
• Quick desktop access needed

Work faster without Alt+Tab juggling.

Use Windows Snap shortcuts:

Windows + ← / → : Split screen
Windows + ↑ : Maximize / quadrant view
Windows + ↓ : Restore / minimize

Why this helps:
• Compare PDF, Excel & portal side-by-side
• Faster data entry, fewer mistakes
• Cleaner screen during meetings or screen-share

No apps. No settings. Built into Windows.

Stepping away from your desk?

Press: Windows + L

Your screen locks instantly.

Why this matters:
• Prevents accidental access to client data
• Safer in office / shared spaces
• Faster than mouse → Start → Lock

One second habit. Zero effort.

Want to copy files without Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V?

Hold Ctrl and drag the file.
A copy is created instantly.

Tip:
• Ctrl + Drag → Always copy
• Shift + Drag → Always move
• Alt + Drag → Create shortcut

Works in Windows File Explorer.

Create a new folder instantly — without right-click menus.

Press: Ctrl + Shift + N

A new folder appears immediately.
Just start typing the name.

Perfect when:
• Saving multiple client files
• Organising downloads
• Creating year-wise / client-wise folders

Once you get used to this, right-click → New → Folder feels painfully slow.
