The Delhi Police nabbed over 700 cybercriminals and unearthed a fraud trail worth Rs 1,000 crores under its 48-hour Operation Cyber Hawk. The cybercrime operation was jointly carried out by district police units and the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit.
"Delhi Police launched a 48-hour Operation Cyber Hawk, during which it nabbed over 700 cybercriminals. A fraud trail worth Rs 1,000 Crore was unearthed in a massive crackdown carried out jointly by district police units and the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit," Delhi Police officials told ANI.
According to officials, the multi-district operation codenamed 'Cyber Hawk', targeted organised cyber fraud networks involved in phishing cheating, fake customer care scams, investment frauds and digital payment thefts.
Preliminary investigations into the cybercrime case have uncovered suspicious and fraudulent transactions worth around Rs 1,000 crore, pointing to a large-scale ecosystem of cyber offenders operating across districts, officials told ANI.
Delhi Police and other intelligence teams conducted raids across Delhi and neighbouring regions, detaining suspects, recovering forged documents, seizing digital devices, and identifying bank accounts used to siphon off victims' money. Senior officers told ANI that the operation will continue in the coming days as more digital evidence is being analysed and the police is tracking linkages to pan-India syndicates.
